When we come together we accomplish more.
Last week I attended an active community meeting in Sedamsville... a little neighborhood in the southwest corner of Cincinnati. The recently connected to the CAREPORTAL Network, enrolled a few churches, and started supporting their local school (as well as county child welfare). We were discussing the possible responses to requests. Every request in the CarePortal System has multiple ways to engage. You can FOLLOW a request if you want updates on our progress. You can PRAY. You can SHARE the request with others to help gather resources. And you can HELP by hitting that "Yes I can help!" button if you have the items we are looking for.
This community decided to DROP EVERYTHING and hit the pray button on every open request in Hamilton County. After they prayed, they started to strategize. In a matter of minutes, they had a plan for meeting 4 needs! And by the end of the week, ALL the Hamilton County needs had been met!!! That is no small miracle!
The heartfelt and persistent prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much [when put into action and made effective by God—it is dynamic and can have tremendous power]. ~James 5:16 (Amplified Bible)
Here are a few things I want to point out about a healthy Active Community Gathering.
WE NEED TO GATHER. If your church is involved and using the CarePortal Platform, you need to be engaged in community gatherings! These meetings vary by community but happen with regularity and help us to serve our neighbors better, together. When we serve as ONE church, made of many congregations we speak unity into our city.
WE NEED TO PRAY. I know we have prayer warriors all over the world interceding for the work we do, but there is no substitute for coming together and praying over our local needs. God hears us and helps us accomplish more when we operate according to his lead.
WE NEED TO TESTIFY. Community Gatherings are a great place to build each other's faith! As we share victories and struggles and strategies, we will strengthen our teams, our collective ministry, and our witness to the world.
Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. ~Hebrews 10:24-25
Connect with me if you'd like to represent your church, business, or organization at our next local Active Community Gathering. We would love to have you! And in the meantime... Check out our Open Request ... hit the PRAY button or "YES I can Help!" and watch God build his next miracle!
May our heartfelt, persistent prayers accomplish everything God has for our community. May He lead us to gather together and serve as one. May we be stirred to love better and encourage more! ~Amen
