When a tight knit community unites through technology.
"Something special is happening in Middletown."
I've said that sentence about 1200 times in the past few months as I've watched and waited for the story here to unfold. Middletown Ohio is a fairly close knit community nestled about 35 miles north of Cincinnati. This summer, several churches came together, along with community non-profits, local businesses, concerned citizens, (connected by CarePortal) to support local families and offer help to their local schools. We've had strategy meetings, and coffee dates, training sessions and prayer meetings all in preparation for this school year to start. All gearing up to serve this community together!
Here's where I talk about what's special. 1. The unity here is off the charts. Every snag, slowdown or work through has been met with a cheerful "work it out together" attitude. I have been so blessed by the local leadership and their steadfast commitment to moving forward toward serving vulnerable kids in Middletown. 2. The spirit of God has obviously been at work here. Not only evidenced by the collaborative spirit of unity, but showcased in the support they have from the rest of the community. These churches clearly have favor in their community and long standing reputations for service... so when they offered the CarePortal Platform to the local school, they already had trust and relationship established. and 3. The Congregations have responded in force! It's one thing for church leadership to catch a vision and it's another thing entirely for 7 churches, representing hundreds of individuals, to jump into active LOVE for their community. Since the school year started Middletown churches have served more than 50 kids!!! They have worked together to provide more than $1000 of resources. And they have connected with many families in their own neighborhoods who needed support and they are continuing to connect even today to serve even more local families!
