Making the most of the Day.

When it all goes wrong, but God makes it right.

Last week, I made a very quick trip to Pennsylvania to share CarePortal and help a community serve their own local kids. We gave the same presentation I have given countless times before. We were well rehearsed. My partner/boss lady/friend and I pray every Tuesday morning for communities just like this one, and for the Lord to do his will! We were prayed up. We had door dashed a healthy breakfast and arrived in plenty of time to set things up. We were well prepared. And every …SINGLE… thing that can go wrong, went wrong. Slides wouldn’t show, projectors wouldn’t project, phones were ringing, volume buttons malfunctioned, videos wouldn’t play. At some point, we gave up on our polished multi-media presentation and just started speaking from the heart. When we left that venue, we both thought, “that’s the worst we’ve ever seen that go! God is going to have to do a miracle”

This weekend, my husband spoke to our leadership team about “making the most of the day”.

“ Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. “~Eph 5:15-16.

Our church has been displaced since the beginning of Covid. We’ve jokingly referred to ourselves as the “couch surfing church” because we have met in so many different locations over the past 16 months. But the encouragement from this verse was to TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE of this inconvenience. Conduct CHURCH where ever you go, so that people see Jesus where ever you are.

It made me re-examine my failure earlier in the week. It made me feel good about our decision to abandon the “professional presentation” and take full advantage of that frustrating moment. We shared our best, most encouraging testimonies… and in the end, that community responded. Not because we were polished and prepared, but because the Lord spoke to their hearts. Another reminder that we do our part and God does his.

I wish technology would never fails me like that again. I don’t have much hope in that wish. But I do know that MY GOD has never let me down! My encouragement this week, is to take each day by storm! May the Lord grant us the wisdom to proceed in His ways. May we make the most of this day, and the next, and every day after as we follow Him. May we step boldly into the lives of the families we serve and show Christ! ~amen.
