That's my boy

An oldie, but a cutie... I'm adding it today even though it was written YEARS ago... because it's still fun.

Last night, we had one of those moments... you know where you pat your parent-self on the back and say, "That's my boy!"... My son didn't kick the winning goal in his soccer game, or get voted in as class president. He shared. My little one spilled her snack on the sidewalk, and with out skipping a beat her older brother poured out half of his into her hand. Yeah, THAT'S my boy!!! In the natural, my son ended up with less, in order to give his sister more. He sacrificed something from his own stash to bless someone else. Oh, but in the spirit... Gifts, time and resources put into the Lord's hands... or given to our neighbors in His name MULTIPLY, they don't divide! We see his plan for generosity all over scripture!

In John 6, where Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes, we have to assume the little boy still got lunch! . And again in Mark 6, when the disciples offer up their provisions. No Disciples starved to death in the making of that story. When we give to the Lord, BOTH parties receive a FULL PORTION.

I am praying that we will devote ourselves to this radical brand of generosity, deeply rooted in complete trust in the Father's provision for us... and his plan for the provision of our neighbors. His word promises to bless that devotion.

"Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” ~Luke 6:38
