Which way to turn.

This week, Apple Car Play uninstalled itself in my car. All week, I've been listening to the radio (gasp) because I couldn't get to any of my play lists. And the only thing worse than getting "Don't go chasing water falls" stuck in my head for days, is the fact that I also lost use of apple MAPS! I had onboard GPS, and I did get to all my appointments- but on more than one occasion, my car's outdated GPS instructed u-turns and wrong turns which made me feel lost an anxious.

Also, this week, I've been helping a young mom navigate herself into a new apartment and bring her kids home . Every time she thought she had it figured out, she was redirected, sent back to get more information, or told she'd done the steps out of order. By the time I was talking with her about paying the deposit, she was turned around and confused- wondering if she'd ever be able to provide a stable home for her kids. She knew her destination, but there were roadblocks and new turns. She said, "I feel like I'm driving without a map. It took me 2 seconds to relate. I immediately launched into my testimony! "when I'm driving, I rely so heavily on the turn by turn verbal instructions that come directly through the speakers of my car... this week when my map system wasn't working I was constantly nervous that I was taking the wrong turn- going the wrong way- getting lost! I'm like that with God too. I rely so heavily on His voice , that when I can't hear it I get anxious and lose my way. I pray when I feel like that." Then I prayed for her. I asked the Lord for guidance, clarity, wisdom and peace.

Guess what, it all worked out. I got where I was going this week, and so did she. Her deposit was paid and she got the job she was applying for. She called this morning to tell me how excited she was to be so close to welcoming her kids home... and to thank me for praying. She said she'd remember this for the rest of her life- "when I feel lost, turn to God!" YES, and amen to that! I shared this scripture with her and we were both encouraged.

"So we should come near to God and we should not be afraid. God is our King. We can ask him to help us when we need help. We know that he will forgive us and he will be kind to us in whatever way we need." ~Hebrews 4:16

I'm praying for each of you as we seek God's voice and His direction. May he illuminate our paths and show us how to best minister to our neighbors. And may we all take hold of this simple principle : when we don't know which way to turn- we turn to God! ~amen
