2020 Year in review

Updated: Sep 10, 2021

When God makes the worst year feels like the best year.

As I look back over 2020, I see a hard year, I think we can all agree. With a global pandemic, political unrest and racial injustice on our doorsteps, it would be easy to write 2020 off as "one of the worst". It has been a different battle for different people…But it is very clear, today, that God has won the victory! As I read through the year, I see God's hand all over it.

In 2020, our partnership with Junk King resulted in 56 kids staying in stable homes!

In 2020, support from the Liberty University Football team helped us serve 49 families!

In 2020, we supplied bus passes, grocery gift cards, hotel stays and rent assistance to families suffering from Covid related crisis JUST IN TIME.

In 2020, youth groups all over the city rallied around a couple of teenagers to pay court fees so they could be part of a new permanent family.

2020 is the year that saw one local church step up with 40 swimsuits to support their neighborhood school and allow every student to participate in swim lessons.

Volunteers showed up in droves to pass out meals at churches and schools and build relationships all over our city.

In 2020, God provided a VAN for a young mom, so she could continue working and supporting her family.

Between 2015 and 2019, nationwide CarePortal served 50,000 kids!!! And in 2020 alone, we served over 32,000 kids.

We have watched God reveal himself again and again and again.

Psalm 65:11says,

"You crown THIS year with your goodness; your footsteps drop prosperity behind them.”

I just wanted to take a quick minute to remind us all that as we follow closely behind our Lord, we benefit from the prosperity that drops behind his footsteps. I look back over a list of blessing that is nowhere near complete and I marvel at the way that God has loved and lead.

Thank you all, for being part of that abundance! If you moved a mattress or put $2 toward a court fee… If you prayed for a family after a house fire or if you dropped a gift card in the mail… If you called to comfort and pray with a struggling mom, donated toward my missionary salary or funded a need from a faraway state… THANK YOU! Thank you for being obedient to the Lord’s voice, for walking in his ways, and for helping him crown 2020 with his goodness!!!
