Children Again

When God becomes a child.

This week I've spent a lot of time in the car. I've had my radio tuned to whatever station can supply the Christmas cheer as I drive criss cross all over the city making those last few connections, getting all the groceries and buying all the last minute gifts, before I take a few days off to spend with my HOUSE FULL of guests. (This year our house is over flowing, and I'll tell that testimony after the holidays ). Anyway, maybe this is an old song to some of you... but I heard it for the first time a couple of days ago and I wanted to share it with you.

It's called "Children Again" by Jason Gray. And for those of you who don't want to listen (I'll admit, it's not my favorite STYLE of music)... I offer you the cliff notes version in the form of lyrics:

Christmas is calling again Leading you to Bethlehem Where a child is waiting for you When grown up dreams don’t come true It sounds crazy, that a baby Would ask for our hearts made of stone And then give us a heart like his own If we let him, he will begin To make us all children again We will be children again

God wrapped a gift that he hid in the world Deep in the womb of an innocent girl But when we were ready and on a dirt floor Love found a way in and left open the door

Where a child is waiting for you When grown up dreams don’t come true It sounds crazy, but a baby Can make us all children again

As I listened to those words on my way to serve CHILDREN in our Community, I was reminded of Jesus' own words

“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven." ~Matthew 18:3

... And the fact that he led IN THAT WAY... by became a child to show us the way to the Kingdom... I'm blown away. As we experience "the magic of Christmas" and we all sort of feel like children again, I just wanted you encourage you to see each of the children we serve as extensions of Jesus himself, who came as a child, to show us the way... and to serve those children with the same adoration that you would give to Jesus himself. Because again, in Jesus' own words,

‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’~Mathew 25:40

I hope you all enjoy a little time off, rest and return ready to SERVE the Lord by serving his children! May He bless your homes with health and peace! And may we always be grow more and more deeply in love with our amazing savior. Merry Christmas!
