When we respond to a CarePortal request we might be tempted to think that we are just giving something away. The truth is that as we step into serve a family who might be experiencing crisis or poverty, God has something for us to receive as well. He is growing us as His disciples. "I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’ ” ~Acts 20:35
When Jesus spoke these words he wasn't talking only about eternal rewards... he was saying that in this life, we will experience blessings from the act of giving... we will learn and grow to be MORE LIKE HIM, by adopting his "others first" mind set and acting accordingly.
