Reflect His Glory.

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” ~Revelation 4:11

In this passage, the Apostle John describes the Creator surrounded by inexpressible beauty, with a full rainbow encircling the throne. God is the architect of the cosmos, and every living thing exists because of His desire and divine will.

FUN FACTS:

1.All rainbows are inherently circular, but the bottom half is usually blocked by the ground. To see the complete 360-degree circle, you need to be in an airplane or a mountaintop, so the horizon doesn't obstruct your view. So first of all, God is showing us his throne from a high vantage point when John records this vision. God is lovingly instructing us to "Come up here" (in verse one) so we can see his complete glory without our own horizons blocking the view. Knowing that we only see a small arc of God's greater circle, let's humble ourselves and trust Him when our perspective on life is low. Let's take a few seconds to obey that command. Let's accept his invitation to "come up here" and allow God to lift us above our daily concerns so that he can show us a clear 3D panorama of his glory.

2.Sunlight appears perfectly white to the human eye, but it is actually made up of a beautiful spectrum of colors. It contains the entire visible spectrum.  ( I won't even mention the colors we can't see with the naked eye). The visible spectrum ranges from red (which has a long wavelength) to violet (which has a short wavelength) and all the other colors in precise mathematical wavelength order in between. Which is why the color order is always the same. Though it is formed in the midst of billions of chaotic, falling raindrops, a rainbow is never random. It is perfectly calculated and "by his will they existed and were created". In the same way that God designed the wavelengths of the rainbow to bend perfectly every single time, He is designing our lives with stunning precision. Nothing in creation, and nothing in our lives, is by accident. He has embedded an astonishing array of Glory into each of our days and I want to take a moment to pause and perceive that magnificent light, in all of it's precision and beauty. (all our gifts, resources, blessings) Let's thank him for every miracle that He has shined onto us.

3.To see a rainbow, two elements are required: bright light and water droplets. When sunlight strikes a raindrop, or oceam spray, the light bends as it enters the drop separating into individual wavelengths(refraction). Then it bounces off the back wall of the water droplet.(reflection) and as it exits the droplet, it bends a second time, fanning out the brilliant, overlapping colors we see arching across the sky. (dispersion). Just like water droplets reveal the hidden color spectrum in sunlight, we are called to show off God’s glory to the world. Rainbows require both sunlight and rain. Let's invite God's magnificent light to passes through the "raindrops" in our lives. Let's spend a second surrendering it all to Him, so that He can beautifully arrange our gifts, and our passions, and our callings into specific reflections of His artistry.

Heavenly Father, You are worthy to receive all glory, honor, and power. Thank You for creating us intentionally by Your will. Just as light is revealed more fully as it passes through a raindrop and turns into a rainbow in the sky, help us to reflect Your beauty and grace especially in the moments when it feels like we are just falling from the sky. Remind us that we are were created just like all things, BY YOU, by YOUR will and for YOUR glory" ~amen
