Starting the year off right.

Did you know that the majority of CarePortal requests are “upstream,” and focused on family strengthening?   These requests give the Church an opportunity to come together and strengthen families before hardships spiral into crisis. We get the chance to intervene before children are removed and enter foster care. CarePortal gives the King's followers the privilege of serving HIM, by engaging in these simple acts of mercy.

“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,  I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’ ~Matthew 25:34-36

Recently, a school representative submitted just this type of need. She had been working with this family for years and was astounded by the instant support they received when she used CarePortal to notify the Church.

“We need support for single mother trying to house her four teenage girls aged 11-18. They have been homeless now for over four months, sleeping on floors of family members, and living in a hotel room for the last four weeks paid for by emergency donations. The instability and lack of housing is taking a toll on the kids mentally and emotionally... The kids need to get back to being kids and focus on academics so they can have a new start and hope for the future. Mom is a very self-motivated, hardworking individual and has come so incredibly far in the last few years. It's like she is a different person, a person with new hope. She desires to move forward but needs help now to do so. The family needs grocery and gas card to get the kids to and from school and food for the weekends when they don't have school lunches.”

A church responded very quickly to this request... and thanks to a caring community, including a local school who identified the need, 2024 is looking much brighter and more stable for this precious family. and to that

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ ~ Matthew 25:40

Thank you for helping us make moments like this possible. Thank you for giving hard-working families a fighting chance! And THANK YOU for caring for HIS PEOPLE as you would care for the King himself. Take with you, this week, the knowledge that our King receives the gifts you give him. He is pleased with the offering of your time and energy and resources. And He has prepared for you an inheritance! May you feel his pride in your obedience and his delight in your gift! ~Amen
