Whatsoever things are true.

I have a special relationship with the word TRUE. When I was 14 years old, I had heard a lot and researched a little bit about world religions. I was confused and overwhelmed with information when I prayed to a Lord I didnt know yet, "Whatever is TRUE, out of all of these choices and voices, if anything is TRUE- that's all I want." God heard the cry of that 14 year old heart, and though I'm not sure I'd call it a vision, I vividly perceived that Jesus STEPPED FORWARD out of the confussion, out of the crowd of information I had gathered. Then without knowing the scripture myself, I heard him say "I am true. Not only that, I AM THE TRUTH. I'm at once the true thing, the truth itself and the one who defines truth." I later discovered

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." ~John 14:6

Because of that experience- when I read Philippians 4:8, "whatsoever things are TRUE" jumps off the page.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." ~Philippians 4:8

I'm also in the habit if using truth to combat lies or discouragement. Let't take a quick second and just list out to Lord his own uplifting truth... I'm going to encourage you vocalize the things that ring out of your spirit. Voice the truth into the room. Let it fill your physical space. Let's think on true things that connect us with THE TRUTH.

You are The One true God

You are the Living God. 

You are Creator -the artist -the author -the inventor. 

You are Holy. 

You are Sovereign and In Control.

You are Majestic.

You are Almighty. 

You are Love.

You are a Righteous Judge. 

You are the Most high God

You are the Reigning King

You are Light in the Darkness

You are Magnificent, Beautiful, full of Grace, the Source of Life

You are Good

You are Merciful. 

You are Faithful through the ages. 

You ARE that You are!

You are Omnipresent, Omnipotent, and Omniscient, Eternal and Unchanging

You are Able. 

You are My good Father. 

You are my Provider. 

You are my Shepherd and my Protector

You are Worthy

You are the Warrior who fights my battles for me.

You are my Savior and my Friend.

You are my Peace. 

You are my Refuge. 

YOU Never fail.

Lord, fill our imaginations with touch points to the Divine. Let our minds be disciplined, steadied, inspired , and satisfied as we bring them into contact with truth, especially with the highest truth, the truth about YOU and our relationship with you! Help us not to be dragged down or distracted by the small stuff but to allow you to inhabit every moment with your truth. Guide our thoughts and emotions to resting places rooted in the Truth of Christ- the truth of who you are -the truth of who we are in you. Help us ground ourselves in meditations that bring us closer to you... the one who is at once the true thing, the truth itself and the origin of truth. Whatsoever things are true- help us think on these things. ~amen
